Patch 2.2 introduced a convenient way to report players abusing the honor system by not actively participating in battlegrounds. With just two clicks, a player can be reported as AFK, which will prevent them from gaining honor until they begin to participate in the battleground match.
Below is a compilation of the most frequently asked questions regarding this feature:
I can see someone in my battleground who has not moved from the starting area since the match commenced. How can I report them for being AFK?
You can target players using the Battle Map (SHIFT + M). When you right click a player dot, or cluster of dots, a menu will open allowing you to report them as AFK. There is also an option to report all of the players at this location as AFK. You can also target a player and right click their portrait, or right-click their name in the raid UI to report them as AFK.
What happens to the report? How does it work?
When a player has received reports from three different players, they will receive an ‘Idle’ debuff. This debuff lasts for sixty seconds and can only be cleared by leaving the battleground or engaging in PvP combat. After sixty seconds, if the Idle debuff is not cleared, the player will receive an Inactive debuff. While they have this debuff they will not gain honor. The player’s name will be displayed in bright pink on the world map and the battle map to identify that they are currently AFK and do not need to be reported again.
How many times can I report a player?
You can report fifteen players every five minutes, but you can only report a specific player once until their notification list is cleared. You can only report players who are on your team. If you report a player already marked as Inactive, this report will not be counted against your limited number of reports.
I keep reporting the same player but he is not being marked as being AFK. Is my report not being received?
Three individual players must report the same player for an action to be taken. If three players have reported a sixth player, and he still is not receiving the idle/inactive debuffs, the player is probably participating and you just don't know it.
I reported someone who is already marked as AFK. Does this report count against my 15 per 5 minute limit?
No. Players who are marked as Idle or Inactive can still visually be reported, but there is no further effect and the report does not count against your limited number of reports.
Is there any way to know if I am being reported?
No. The only way you will have of knowing this is if you get three reports and you start to receive debuffs.
I went to get a drink or took a break and now I have the debuff. Help!
To remove the debuff you need to engage in PvP combat with an enemy player or an NPC who is flagged as PvP. If you are a support/healer class, then healing or buffing a player who is in PvP combat will also clear the debuff.
Will I still receive reputation and Battleground Marks if I am marked as Inactive?
You will receive reputation, but not Battleground Marks while you have the Inactive debuff.
